San Xavier del Bac is a historic Spanish Catholic mission located south of Tucson, Arizona, on the Tohono O'odham San Xavier Indian Reservation. It was founded in 1692 by Padre Eusebio Kino.
The shell, a symbol of pilgrimage after the patron saint of Spain, Santiago or James the Greater, is replicated all through the structure of San Xavier del Bac's Mission - in window treatments, the sanctuary, the facade and other details within the interior.
