This photo was taken by Frederick A. Meyer in 1937 and was part of the forest services record. The Bennett Juniper (Juniperus occidentalis) near Deadman Creek. Single trunk was 80 feet high. Circumference was 57-1/2 feet at ground; 42 feet 9 inches at 6 feet above ground; average diameter 14 feet 2 inches. Age over 3,000 years as determined by Dr. Waldo Glock, Carnegie Institution at Washington. Named after Clarence K. Bennett of Hillsborough, California.
The Oakland Municipal Band conducted the concert at the San Quentin Prison - assisted by members of the Aahmes Shrine Band.
